Calling Account Handlers across the UK - London needs you!

By on 07.01.14 in Finding a job

Are you a talented, ambitious account handler based in an agency outside of London but considering a move to The Big Smoke?  Well, if so then now is the time to make that leap.

A few years ago, no matter what your credentials, if you didn't have a 'big name' London agency on your CV then you might as well have beamed down from Mars!  Currently though, business is booming, and combined with that there's a serious skills shortage and some of the best London agencies, who traditionally have had candidates breaking the doors down to get in with them, are now really struggling to find good account handlers to work on some of their most exciting and high-profile clients.

So what can you expect from a career-move to London?

Well, apart from gaining the prestige of including a London based agency on your CV, working with some of the most creative minds and talented teams, and being involved in some of the most dynamic and cutting-edge marketing campaigns in the world, often the perks aren't half bad either.  Many agencies offer 25 days holiday, plus your birthday and Christmas, with some also offering early finishes during the summer and even extra days for training or broadening your horizons culturally.  In addition there's an array of additional benefits on offer including insurance and private health care, bike to work schemes, gym memberships, subsidised meals and of course oodles of social activities and events.

So what's the catch I hear you ask?

Well on the down-side, contrary to popular belief, salaries don't tend to be that much higher here and there's no getting away from the fact that London is an expensive place to live.  However, career prospects are fantastic and there's any amount of free stuff to do and loads of ways to save money:  Thanks to Boris, London is becoming increasingly cycling-friendly and biking, walking or running to and from work will keep you fit and save you a fortune in tube or train fares.  Central London is incredibly easy to navigate on foot - stroll from Westminster to Trafalgar Square to Piccadilly Circus to Soho and soak up the incredible sights, sounds and smells, whilst sampling the vast array of reasonably priced street food and drink on offer.  For those wishing to escape the crowds, London has some of the best parks and large open spaces for picnics with friends and getting your fresh-air fix and there's a huge choice of free galleries, museums and other indoor entertainment for when the British weather decides to be not so accommodating.

Add to this that London is one of the most vibrant, culturally diverse, historically significant and exciting cities in the world and well - what are you waiting for?  I took the plunge myself a year ago and I haven't looked back!
